The product

An MCP server with a terminal for Windows that lets your AI client work with Siemens TIA Portal projects. The assistant reads the program, hardware, HMI, safety and security of a project and proposes changes; the terminal shows every command live and asks you before anything changes.

The Model Context Protocol (MCP) is an open standard through which an AI client calls tools on your machine. TIA Openness Manager MCP is such a server for Siemens TIA Portal: your AI client reads the blocks, tags, hardware and HMI of your project with it and changes them after your confirmation in the terminal.

Yes. Register TIA Openness Manager MCP once in Claude Code or another MCP client that can start a local MCP server; the installation guide shows how. Claude then works with the TIA Portal tools, and every change waits for your confirmation.

Any MCP client that can start a local MCP server, for example Claude Code. You register TIA Openness Manager MCP once in the client; the installation guide walks you through it.

TIA Portal V15 through V21 on Windows 10 and 11, 64-bit. A few functions need a newer version: the hardware compare V17, the unused objects and the library compare V18, and communication connections, activation tests and project text categories V21.

TIA Portal must be installed on the same machine. To work in a project you have open, start TIA Portal first and connect from the terminal. To open a project file or an archive, TIA Openness Manager MCP starts its own TIA Portal without a window after your confirmation.

English, German, French and Italian. The terminal stays fully usable from 57 columns, so it fits half a Windows Terminal pane next to your assistant.

No. TIA Openness Manager MCP is a standalone MCP server for the AI client you already use. If you want a full engineering environment for TIA Portal with a built-in AI assistant instead, AnyAutomation offers one.

Confirmation and data

Every call that changes the project: creating, changing, renaming, deleting and importing, compiling, opening or creating a project and saving, and most exports. The terminal shows what the call will do; Allow Once runs it, Skip cancels it. Reading asks nobody.

Only when you confirm a save or an archive in the terminal. Closing a project, switching to another one or ending the connection never saves.

Where a change needs a password, for example of an access level, a web server user or the safety program, you type it into a masked field of the terminal. It goes to TIA Portal only and never reaches the assistant, the activity list or the log files.

Only into your Documents, Desktop, OneDrive, the temporary folder, the export folder, the working folder or the folder of the open project. A file it only reads, such as an import file, can lie in any local folder.

No. You log in to the safety program in TIA Portal yourself. The assistant reads the safety program and, after your confirmation, changes its settings or writes its printout.

TIA Openness Manager MCP runs on your workstation and sends no project data to our servers. What your assistant does with the answers it reads depends on the AI assistant you use.
